Recall for Fold-Up Metal Table Saws

Black & Decker 10-Inch Portable Table Saws

The newest recall involves Black & Decker 10-Inch Portable Table Saws that were sold exclusively at Walmart for about $190 between February 2016 and August 2016. The recall involves nearly 400 saws.

The table saws are marked on the front right side with model number JT2504BD, brand-name “Black+Decker,” and manufacturer Power Tool Specialists Inc.

No incidents or injuries were reported, but the black metal fold-up stand is nearly identical to one that has caused several injuries. According to the manufacturer:

In some instances, the stand may unexpectedly collapse. As a result, users could be struck by the product or be cut or otherwise injured.”

Black & Decker Table Saw RecallThe stand is manufactured by Rexon Industrial Corp. Ltd. of Taiwan, the same company that recalled 46,000 Sears Craftsman 10″ Portable Table Saws on March 7, 2017.

There were 11 reports of stands collapsing. Nine people reported injuries to their fingers or hands, lacerations, broken bones, a shoulder strain, and a partial finger amputation.

Rexon is asking people to immediately stop using the table saws and contact the company for a free replacement stand.
